FRPC Hosts Family Promise April 24-30

Date: April 30, 2016
Time: 11:59 pm

Forked River Presbyterian Church will host Family Promise in the lower level of the main church building

FAMILY PROMISE WEEK:  April 24 – 30th

Every day, Family Promise connects people who want to help with opportunities to make a difference. Volunteers give of their time and talent in so many ways to help homeless families regain the dignity and independence they deserve.

You don’t need to donate thousands of dollars or hundreds of hours of service to make a difference. In fact, one hour of volunteering can work wonders. Basic kindness can change bad days to good ones. It can even transform lives.

Family Promise offers many meaningful opportunities for volunteers. Prepare a meal. Read a story to a toddler. Donate furniture, clothes, supplies. Or just offer compassion and support.

The Interfaith Hospitality Network within Family Promise brings the faith community together to help families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity. This is a partnership of congregations within a community helping families who are facing homelessness. It offers an opportunity for volunteers of all faiths to reduce homelessness and transform lives.

Family Promise hosting week is April 24 – April 30.  We will host families (consisting of adult/s and their children) for dinner and overnight.   We will need volunteers to bring dinner, ready to eat, to the church basement at 5:30 pm.  We need evening hosts to stay with the guests from 5:30 – 9 pm, and overnight hosts to sleep overnight from 9 pm to 7 am.  Donations of funds are also needed to purchase snacks, breakfast foods, and toiletries for the families.

Volunteer signups will be held in the Heartrock Café every Sunday in April.  Please see Susan Phillips or Terry Duffy if you’re able to help our guests for the week feel welcome!
