Providing Assistance For The Homeless (PATH)
PROVIDING ASSISTANCE FOR THE HOMELESS [PATH]
The PATH mission group helps support the following ministries:
- Family Promise of Southern Ocean County – Four times a year our church houses homeless families for a week, while their search for their own home continues. We are hosting January 24-31 2016, April 24-30 2016, June 26-July 3 2016 and October 23-30 2016. Ways you can get involved while the families stay with us include: preparing dinners, serving as an evening host to the families, or sleeping overnight in your own room serving as an onsite person in charge. Monetary donations are also accepted to help purchase breakfast and lunch items during the hosting weeks. Thank you for volunteering for such a rewarding experience in making the families feel welcome during their stay with us!
- Your Grandmother’s Cupboard – This group ministers to the homeless being housed in motels along the Route 37 and Route 9 corridors and to the working poor. They also serve people using the food banks in our area. Because many people do not have the transportation to get to food banks and distribution centers, YGC brings clothing, food, and necessary items to those who need it. We collect and deliver clothing, toiletries, toys, baby items, household items, and bicycles (used by adults to get to their jobs) to YGC.
We support the groups in our area that are seeking a shelter for the homeless in Ocean County and affordable housing for the working poor.
We meet, as needed, after the worship service. Please check the calendar in the News in the Pews for dates of meetings. Everyone interested in helping the homeless and in working to eliminate homelessness is welcome to attend and participate.
